Lance Wheeler, his wife Lisa, and their family operate Rafter W Ranch in Simla, Colorado. Rafter W Ranch produces grass-fed, grass-finished beef and lamb, and pastured poultry in a holistically managed grazing program. The full product line is marketed directly to consumers in Colorado and surrounding states. Lance and his family are passionate about building relationships that will ensure the future of locally raised food and vibrant communities.

Instead of trying to tell you “who” Lance Wheeler is and dazzle you with his ranch certifications from the American Grassfed Association, or Audubon, or even impress you with terms like Grass Fed, Pasture Raised, or Non-GMO, we’d rather tell you Lance’s “why”.

It’s actually pretty simple.  Lance knows that you care about what your family eats, well, so does he …  his ranch and what he does exists so that your family can eat the same delicious, healthy food, that his family eats.

Lance’s ranch story with his family begins on small lot in Elizabeth, Colorado with the desire to live as sustainably as possible by growing grass-fed meat and eggs. Loving the lifestyle and benefits of it, Lance’s story began in 2014. And low and behold, it turned out that some of Lance’s neighbors were curious and started asking his family, the Wheelers, if they could buy our meat and eggs.  The Wheelers said, well sure.  That was the “light bulb moment”. It wasn’t long after that, that Lance’s family were blessed with a 100-acres of land.  That’s when their dream of starting a family owned meat and egg company in Colorado started to come true.  After a couple of years, another huge blessing followed.  The property next to Lance became available, and just like that, the Wheelers now had a total of 640 acres, not to mention, the property came with a house on it, which is now the family’s home.  This meant we had more ground to grow more soil, which meant more nutrition for more animals.  Now, our entire family, including our children, are all involved in one way or another.  Food we love, grown by people we know, our own family.

You’re probably thinking to yourself, that’s great for your family, but what does that really mean for me and my family?  Well, Lance is glad you asked and here’s his answer:
